Meet our Staff

Suzanne

Dr. Suzanne Scott

Dr. Suzanne Scott spent time in many states growing up, including Connecticut and Wisconsin (briefly) and Texas (just outside of Dallas).  She went to middle school and high school in Northern New Jersey, near New York City. She then received a Bachelor of arts degree in biology at the University of Virginia and was accepted into vet school at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she spent 4 years in Ithaca, NY and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).

She followed her husband, Josh, who she married during her 3rd year in vet school, to Rhode Island after graduating. She has worked in several practices in Rhode Island, most recently working in West Greenwich for 15 years, before opening Slatersville Veterinary Clinic in May of 2022.

She enjoys spending time with her husband Josh, and 3 children, Samantha, Evan, and Allie, as well as her 3 Dobermans, Prima, Aila, and Diesel, and their menagerie of cats (Annabelle, Zachary, Oliver, Chloe, Pepper, and Simba). They also have 2 leopard geckos, a bearded dragon, and some fish.

When Dr. Suzanne is not working, you can find her walking or hiking with the dogs or attending the children's numerous sports events (volleyball, horse shows, and track events) and musical performances.

Kayla

Kayla has been in the veterinary field since 2006. She enjoys making a positive difference in the lives of not only the animals we see, but their owners as well. When Kayla isn’t at work you can find her at a softball field watching her daughter. She lives with her husband, daughter, black lab, named CJ, and cats, named Sugar Bear and Hazel.

Renee Bergeron

Renee

Renee graduated from URI with a degree in Animal Science in 2013 and has been a veterinary technician ever since. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband Jeff, their 2 daughters, and their son. They share their lives with a menagerie of animals that includes 2 alaskan malamutes, a black lab, a chihuahua, 5 cats, and 2 chinchillas.

Bonnie

While growing up, Bonnie loved visiting her grandfather's farm, and enjoyed caring for the variety of animals there. Her enthusiasm towards animals continued into her adulthood, as she graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Animal Science. She has been a veterinary technician for over 25 years, and loves teaching new technicians how to navigate the veterinary field. Outside of SVC, Bonnie has the best husband ever, 2 horses, 2 dogs, a turtle, and 2 feral cats that share a barn with her neighbors.

Sara Groeneveld

Sara

Since childhood, Sara has had an unwavering passion for animals. She was known for rescuing a variety of injured animals to bring them home and nurse them back to health. After high school, she pursued a degree in animal science at URI, while she also worked nearby at an animal hospital as a veterinary technician. After graduating, her focus shifted to studying animal behavior which led her to spend several years as a dog trainer. In 2008, she welcomed her first of three children and decided to take a break from her career to be a stay-at-home mom for the next 16 years. Recently, Sara has returned to veterinary medicine finding fulfillment in her work, and has been a wonderful addition to our SVC team. In her free time, Sara enjoys spending time at the barn with her daughter, Brea, as well as juggling various activities with her sons, Jaden and Weston. She also enjoys spending time with her dogs Livi, Josie, and Rosie, her family's horse Scooter, their cats LB, S'mores, Olive, and Olin, their guinea pig Fruity, bearded dragon Beardie, and their Sun Conure Phoebe, all who contribute to the joyful chaos of their home!

Amber

Amber joined the team in May of 2022 when SVC opened, brand new to veterinary medicine. She fawns over every patient as if they were her own and is excited about all that she’s learned so far! She loves helping with patient care and being part of a great team. Outside of SVC, Amber keeps busy being a mother, cooking, fishing, telling mom-jokes, and caring for her own fur babies.

Hailey

Hailey's passion for animals started at a very young age while growing up with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, and just about any other animal she could talk her parents into letting her have. Her childhood passion has continued into her adulthood with her dogs, Zeke and Elliot, her horse Giovanni, and her cat Milo. Hailey loves caring for animals in every way possible and dedicates this enthusiasm towards the patients we see here at SVC. In her free time, Hailey enjoys going on hikes with her dogs and spending time at the barn with her horse.
